Graves de Vayres
This is an area with a very particular type of soil and the wines produced from this area were given the description ‘Graves de Vayres’ at the beginning of the XIX Century. The appellation was made official in 1931 and it became an appellation controlée in 1937.
Chateau Toulouze. Graves de Vayres
The only way in which we can guarantee the quality of Château Toulouze from one year to the next is by maintaining the traditional wine-making methods that will give the wine its great finesse and enable it to keep for a long period of time.
The specific nature of the gravely soil known as ‘graves’ is best shown by the Merlot grape (80%) which reveals its subtle perfume to the full and gives the wine great mellowness, and the cabernet franc (20%) which give the wine its fine, elegant tannin. The grapes are all harvested by hand. The vinification is carried out using the ancient methods without any external physical or chemical intervention and this preserves the intense, complex fruit flavours without showing any signs of rusticity.
The Château Toulouze wines are bright and limpid with a magnificent ruby colour,a complex, lively nose of red fruit (raspberry, blackcurrant) and ripe black fruit such as plums which is the result of an excellent maturity. The tannins are harmonious with a soft finish.
